Welcome to the MSP Research Network

Marine spatial planning is a rapidly-expanding approach to marine management, and is being taken up in many jurisdictions around the world. MSP seeks new spatial approaches to regulating the use of the sea, so that conflicts between maritime activities are minimised, more efficient use is made of resources, and valuable marine ecosystems are protected.

The Marine Spatial Planning Research Network is an informal grouping of scientists, policy-makers and practitioners who wish to contribute to the development of marine spatial planning through academic-based research. We are interested in evaluating the varying approaches that are being applied in different contexts, and exploring new ideas and techniques for taking MSP forward.

See here our leaflet with the key MSP Research Themes (PDF) that we have identified.
